Items for Your Fervent Prayers:
12 June 2009
- We're currently in process of planning for two summer missionary teams coming in the next month. Pray for wisdom in planning, and that the 20 team members would make a large impact on the lives of the Ugandan people they minister to.
04 June 2009
- We're currently developing our strategy for planting churches on the islands. Please pray for wisdom for us and our team of Ugandan laborers to implement a comprehensive plan for transforming the islands.
- We've recently discovered a handful of believers on remote Buyiga Island. They've been praying for encouragement and assistance to help them grow strong in the Lord. Pray for them to stand in the midst of a very dark community.
01 May 2009
- We've begun ministering in music at a local church in Kampala. You can pray for us and the team as we reorganize the music ministry and train the members to lead worship, play instruments, operate the sound system, and to draw the Church into the presence of Jesus.
- We are making progress in learning the Luganda language. We can now carry out basic conversation, and hear a lot of what is being said around us. Please keep praying that we'll be able to become fluent quickly so that we can effectively minister to the Ugandan people on an individual basis.

<12 June 2009> Brent is taking three days to scout out 10+ distant islands for future ministry opportunities. Pray for safety on the water for passengers and boat, and that God would supernaturally lead the team Monday-Wednesday this coming week. <18 June 2009> Brent & the scouting team returned from 150 miles on the water without any problems with passengers or equipment. We identified many new locations for future ministry, with doors wide open in every church and village visited. We could see God leading as various pastors would tell of dreams they had prior to our coming, of discouraged believers being strengthened by our visit, and new connections with faithful humble servants we can partner with into the future. Thanks for praying!
<12 June 2009> Pray for Virginia as she ministers at a girls' high school in Kampala this Saturday with an outreach team from Life Church. Pray for many girls in attendance to give their hearts completely to Jesus as a result of the meeting. <13 June 2009> The Catholic girls' boarding school where Virginia ministered opened their doors to our church for the first time. The 200+ young ladies who attended were very receptive to the message of the cross presented to them. Our church will continue visiting them in future weeks.
<01 May 2009> We've just purchased a new local wooden boat for use in ministry on the islands. Please pray that we'll locate a brand new 40 HP Yamaha engine at a good price from an honest seller. We want to get back to weekly mobility on the islands without the added time burden and expense of hiring boats. <27 May 2009> We located some honest guys who import new Yamaha engines. We purchased a new model 40HP engine for a fair price and are now back in action on the lake! Thanks for praying - it's a whole new world with a reliable boat!
<26 August 2008> We are currently scheduling classes and teachers for the Island Ministers' School, Bunjako Campus. Please pray with us for wisdom and grace to get everything together by our start date: September 1st! <01 September 2008> This is our strongest group yet - with almost 40 registered students on the first day, all zealous to know the Word of God, the islands will doubtless be saved!
<14 July 2008> We are praying about where to put our next Island Ministers' School, beginning September first. We have two great options in a similar part of the lake, but since the school is expensive and really focuses our ministry in one place for at least 4 months, we want to be sure we're headed the right direction. Please pray with us as we need to decide in the next week or so. <01 August 2008> We landed in the Fishing Village of Senyondo, on Bunjako Island. This large island can be reached with our speedboat in about an hour and 1/2 or by road for around 3 via the land bridge through the swamp. We now have 20 students registered and are expecting many more to come and be trained in God's Word for the next four months!
<17 July 2008> Our 2nd annual excursion with YWAM's Oxford, New Zealand base will take place this week and next as this team of 8 young people join us in ministry on four islands and one fishing village participating in mass evangelism, church seminars, working (and playing) at Osanidde Village Orphanage, and having the time of their life on their continuation of "Around the World in 80 Days". Please pray for them and for us and for great fruitfulness during these two weeks! <01 August 2008> The trip was especially fruitful, in the lives of those who ministered and in the ministerees.
<01 May 2008> We are attempting to purchase a motor boat for ministry use on Lake Victoria. The borrowed boat we have been using is a local wooden vessel that crawls around the ocean-like lake, greatly hindering the scope of our ministry. Our own fiberglass "fishing" boat with a 95 HP engine will speed the work forward in the months and years to come. Please pray that the boat we have located will be available at the same time our funds are, and that the dealer will give us a great discount. <03 June 2008> Having decided to start out smaller than originally planned, we chose a fiberglass model with a 75HP Yamaha engine to begin to "learn the lake" as we have never operated boats much in the past. After purchasing the boat last week, we spent a considerable amount of time and money to refurbish the engine and now have a great little machine for our ministry. In the months and years to come, we'll definitely need an upgrade, but this gets us going to the islands much faster than before!
<09 February 2008> We just updated our visas in time to leave the country, and are currently working on acquiring our work permits to continue ministering in the nation of Uganda. We have submitted all the necessary paperwork and now the decision rests with a "control board" who grants or denies the permit. Please pray that all goes through smoothly and that we will be granted at least three more years in Uganda by the time we return in April. <26 May 2008> We were granted a two-year work permit by immigration (the maximum for first time work permits)!
<23 April 2008> We are looking for a new rental house in the town of Entebbe (45 minutes from where we now reside). Please pray that we would find a secure compound close to the lake with a good landlord at an unbeatable price. <12 May 2008> The first weekend of July, we're moving into a secure compound close to the lake (and the sailing club, where we can safely store our boat!) with a good landlord at an unbeatable price...someone must have been praying for such things...
